Accessibility Statement

Last updated: September 7, 2026

The BU Commodities Trading Club ("BUCTC" or "the Club") is committed to making this website accessible and usable for as many people as reasonably possible, including people with disabilities.

BUCTC is a student organization at Boston University, and this website is maintained by the Club.

Our Approach to Accessibility

We aim to incorporate accessibility into the development and maintenance of this website and have reviewed the website with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA in mind.

Accessibility measures implemented on the website include:

  • Semantic HTML and structured page headings.
  • Keyboard-accessible links, controls, forms, and navigation.
  • Visible focus indicators for interactive elements.
  • Accessible names and labels for navigation controls and form fields.
  • Alternative text for meaningful images.
  • Appropriate treatment of decorative or redundant visual elements for assistive technologies.
  • Text and interactive-element color contrast designed to meet applicable WCAG Level AA contrast requirements.
  • Responsive layouts that support different screen and viewport sizes.
  • Appropriately sized interactive controls and touch targets.
  • Accessible status feedback for the mailing-list form.
  • Measures to prevent non-user-facing form controls from interfering with assistive technologies.
  • Support for reduced-motion preferences where the website uses transitions or motion.

Accessibility Standard

BUCTC uses WCAG 2.2 Level AA as a reference when reviewing and improving the accessibility of this website.

The website has undergone a source-level accessibility review addressing areas including semantic structure, keyboard accessibility, form accessibility, accessible names, alternative text, color contrast, focus behavior, responsive design, and reduced-motion preferences.

However, the website has not undergone formal third-party accessibility certification. BUCTC therefore does not represent that every page, feature, browser, device, or assistive-technology combination has been independently verified as fully conforming to WCAG 2.2 Level AA.

Third-Party Content and Services

The website contains links to websites and services operated by third parties, including Boston University services, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, MailerLite, news sources, and market-related resources.

BUCTC does not control the accessibility of third-party websites or services. Accessibility issues encountered after following a link to an external service may therefore be outside the Club's ability to correct.

Accessibility Feedback

If you experience difficulty accessing content, navigating the website, completing a form, or using another feature of the BUCTC website, please contact the Club using the contact information provided in the website footer.

When reporting an accessibility issue, it is helpful to include:

  • The page or feature where you experienced the issue.
  • A brief description of the problem.
  • The browser, device, or assistive technology you were using, if relevant.
  • An alternative format or method of access that would be helpful, if applicable.

We will use reasonable efforts to review reported accessibility issues and address accessibility barriers within our control where practicable.

Alternative Access

If content or functionality on the BUCTC website is not accessible to you, please contact the Club. Where practicable, we will work to provide the relevant information or functionality through an alternative reasonable format or method.

Ongoing Improvements

Accessibility is an ongoing process. BUCTC intends to continue considering accessibility as the website is maintained and as new content, pages, and functionality are introduced.

We may update this Accessibility Statement as the website or our accessibility practices change.
